Data Governance for MDM

It is now generally agreed that that MDM cannot be solved by technology alone, and that Data Governance is an essential component of it. This tutorial describes what is involved in data governance for MDM where master data is defined in a way that is linked to specific governance tasks. These tasks aligned to subsets of master data are also explored. Additionally, this tutorial also introduces "Data Content Management" as an emerging area in MDM that is concerned only with the production and management of data values, rather than assuming master data will always be a by-product of transaction applications. Several governance areas are explored in detail, including management of reference data values and standards development. Attendees will learn:
- Applying the basis of a principles-based approach to data governance
- Identifying common governance tasks for MDM, and what is required to implement them
- Implementing standards as part of a governance program for MDM
