Volker spent the first five years of his professional life as a project manager working for WestLB in Düsseldorf. In 2000, he changed for a new position at UBS and began a doctorate in parallel to his work as a project leader of data management projects. He received a PhD at ETH Zürich for his dissertation on metering data quality. An ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Lwanga holds an MBA from California State University and a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Lwanga is a founding member of the International Association for Information and Data Quality (IAIDQ) and currently serves as an Advisor to the IAIDQ Board. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and a senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Additional activities include serving on the Program Committees of the 2006 and 2007 MIT International Conference on Information Quality, of the 2007 Australasian Conference on Information Quality, and serving on the Boards of several non-profit organizations.
