PLENARY KEYNOTE: Process Data Management: The
Ultimate Goal Of Your MDM and Data Governance Efforts Rob Karel, Principal Analyst, Forrester Research Data management professionals drive master data management (MDM) strategies to ensure delivery of a single, trusted enterprise view of data to the business, but struggle to engage business stakeholders to support and participate in traditionally IT-driven data quality efforts. Business process management (BPM) professionals, on the other hand, understand the need for data but often give it lip service, doing little to take responsibility for ensuring data quality within their processes. This keynote will discuss how an effective data governance program can help organizations embrace Process Data Management best practices to deliver "one version of the truth" as a key foundation for business process transformation efforts. What you will learn:

| KEYNOTE: Data Governance, Why Now? Robert Seiner, President & Principal, KIK Consulting Data Governance is already happening at your organization; to some degree. So is Data Stewardship. But even though most Organizations know this is true, Organizations repeatedly ask the questions, "Why should we govern data?", "What does it mean to govern data?" and "Why is now the right time?" These questions and more will be answered in this keynote session by Robert S. Seiner:

Models for Data Governance & Stewardship How should you organize for success? Do you need more than one Data Governance Council? Should you have Enterprise, Tactical, and/or Operational Data Stewards? What should your support function look like? Who should be empowered to make policy, define standards, enforce controls, and resolve issues? How many staff members do you really need to be successful? This session acknowledges that a model that is right for one organization may be exactly wrong for another. While introducing a 3-part archetype for Data Governance, it introduces ten variations on that model and cultural/environmental reasons for choosing a particular variation. We look at Data Governance org charts from a variety of companies and analyze how those functions might fit into business, information, and technology management structures. Attendees will learn:

The Perfect Storm: Extreme Data Performance 'Most data integration software products that are in use today are not well-optimized for processing large volumes of data on commodity hardware in short timeframes. In fact, this is one of the main reasons that data performance problems exist in the first place...' Learn how... DMExpress DI Acceleration Solution provides the fastest, most cost-effective, and most scalable way to eliminate performance bottlenecks in existing data integration environments.

PLENARY KEYNOTE: MDM strategies or how to turn your data into corporate asset João de Oliveira, Director Business Development, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Oracle IT organisations who decide to engage in an MDM project face two key challenges: (1) justifying the investment to their business counterparts and (2) defining and executing a deployment plan that minimise implementation risk. In this session, you will learn some of the key levers Oracle customers have used to demonstrate short-term, visible, achievable, and tangible business benefits. In particular, this session will highlight a number of real MDM case studies with measured ROI. You will also learn about some of the critical challenges faced by real world organisations who have delivered an MDM project and how Oracle MDM applications have helped addressing these challenges. Finally this session will also go over the latest MDM product releases and Oracle MDM's roadmap especially in the areas of end-to-end Data Quality, Data Governance and Integration. In particular, attendees will gain insight into:

In the financial service industry, the quality of data is pointed as a recurring issue. Poor data quality leads to corporate decisions based on potentially misleading reports, and also has a direct cost. ABN Amro has implemented data quality continuous improvement processes in various corporate reporting chains (Basel 2, accounting systems, rating systems...) Their experience shows that

TRENDS: The Lisbon Treaty and Data Protection: What's the implications for Europe's Privacy Rules? Following the recent ratification by Ireland and the Czech Republic, the Lisbon Treaty will enter into force on the 1st December 2009. This agreement substantially overhauls the EU's founding treaties, namely the Treaty on European Union (1992) and the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (1957), the latter of which is renamed the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The Lisbon Treaty also alters the legal grounds for legislation in the data protection area in ways that could impact privacy regulation. Gordon's presentation will describe the key changes and consider the potential effect on Europe's data protection framework.

BEST PRACTICES: Understanding and Mapping the Data Landscape Malcolm Chisholm, President, AskGet.com The production data landscape is poorly known in nearly all enterprises. Yet the only reality for business users is the totality of the enterprise's physical data assets. This presentation explores the nature of the production data landscape and the techniques available for mapping it. The establishment of an inventory of all data assets as a fundamental item of infrastructure for data governance is described. The challenges of gathering this metadata, and the role of tools are explored. The importance of data categorization in the mapping exercise, and they ways in which this is linked to data governance is also dealt with. Emerging areas, such as contract management that requires tracing lineage of data purchased from vendors, are introduced. Attendees will learn:
